Pirro Electric at a glance
The citable facts. If you're vetting an electrician for a DMV property, this is the short version.
Our history
Our Story
Pirro Electric was founded in 2003 by Foto Martinos, a master electrician who learned the trade in Greece. He started out climbing high-voltage poles and doing residential work, figuring out the job from the ground up.
Foto came to the United States chasing the American dream. He bussed tables at night and worked for a local electrical company by day, pushing through a language barrier and long hours. After failing the master electrician exam a couple of times, he passed it - then started his own company.
He named it Pirro Electric in memory of his brother, Pirro, who passed away young. The name is a tribute that has stayed with the company for 23 years.
The business started small: a bucket truck, a van, and monthly maintenance on eight shopping centers in Prince George's County. From that foundation, it grew into a full-service electrical contractor that now maintains more than 100 communities across the DMV.
Today, the second generation is running the day-to-day. Foto's son, Nick Martino, grew up around the trade, joined right out of high school, and spent roughly 10 years in the field before taking business classes and stepping into operations as Vice President. Foto has stepped back, but Nick keeps his father's values - honesty, straight talk, and getting the job done right - while modernizing the systems that keep the company moving.
Because Pirro is family-owned, clients get the owners' personal cell numbers and a real relationship, not a 9-to-5 call-center rep.
Why DMV customers choose Pirro Electric over any other electrician
Eight reasons HOAs, property managers, insurance brokers, builders, and homeowners across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia hire us - and stay with us.
Licensed electrical contractor in DC, MD & VA
Pirro Electric is a licensed electrical contractor in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Every job runs under our master electrician of record, founder Foto Martinos. We pull all our own permits - we never rely on others to permit our work.
Pirro electricians on the job
Our electrical crews are W-2 Pirro employees, background-checked and badged. Specialty trades such as low-voltage, data, and fire alarm are performed in-house or by vetted partners depending on the job - not handed off to a stranger.
Multi-unit aluminum wiring specialization
Pirro is one of the few DMV electrical contractors running a turnkey, occupied-building aluminum-to-copper remediation practice for condo communities. We perform full replacement of branch-circuit wiring, panels, breakers, and devices - not pigtail patch repairs - and produce the documentation insurers accept.
Family-owned since 2003
Foto Martinos, a master electrician, founded the company in 2003 and named it after his late brother, Pirro, who passed away young - the company has carried that memorial name for 23 years. Today Foto and his son Nick Martino (Vice President, operations) run it together. Customers get the owners' personal cell numbers and a real relationship, not a call-center rep.
DMV-native expertise
Headquartered in Gaithersburg, MD. The team knows DC vintage wiring, Montgomery County 1960s–80s aluminum branch circuits, Northern Virginia 200A–800A panel upgrades, and the inspector quirks of every county we work in.
Insurance carrier-aware
Pirro is the electrician HOAs and property managers call when their insurance carrier requires aluminum wiring remediation as a condition of renewal. We produce the documentation underwriters actually accept.
Troubleshooting depth
Deep diagnostic experience on hard, intermittent commercial and residential faults - the kind of jobs other electricians give up on. Honest scope, no upselling: we tell you what you actually need.
Emergency response for our customers
A real Pirro electrician - not an answering service - picks up after hours for our existing customers. For non-customers, we'll do our best in a genuine emergency with no other option, but our emergency line isn't an unconditional public dispatch service.
Licensing
Licensed electrical contractor in Washington, D.C. (EM-40-0001168), Maryland (7987), and Virginia (2705198087), operating under master electrician of record Foto Martinos, our founder. Pirro pulls all its own permits - every permit is filed in the name of Pirro Electric, Inc., and we never rely on others to permit our work. Fully insured: current general liability, automobile, and workers' compensation. Bonded in Virginia. EPA certified and OSHA certified. Family-owned since 2003 - clients get the owners' direct cell numbers, not a call center. Certificates of insurance available on request.
