Outlet, Switch & Circuit Breaker Repair in the DMV
Dead outlets, breakers that won't reset, sparking switches, and burning smells — diagnosed and fixed.

What's Included
Every job comes scoped, permitted, and inspected — no shortcuts.
- Dead outlet diagnosis and replacement
- GFCI and AFCI outlet installation and reset diagnosis
- Tripping breaker troubleshooting
- Burning smell and scorched outlet response
- Two-prong to three-prong outlet upgrades
- USB and tamper-resistant outlet installation
- Switch replacement (single, three-way, four-way, dimmer)
- Whole-circuit tracing and re-energizing
Dead Outlets — What's Actually Happening
Most dead outlets fall into a handful of buckets: a tripped GFCI somewhere upstream (often in a bathroom or garage that controls bedroom outlets — yes, really), a loose backstab connection where the wire pushed in instead of being screwed down, a burned-out outlet that needs replacement, or a tripped breaker.
We diagnose in order — check the breaker, hunt for upstream GFCIs, then open the device — instead of guessing.
Tripping Breakers
A breaker that trips repeatedly is doing its job. The question is why. Could be an overloaded circuit, a short in a fixture, a failing appliance, water in a junction box, or — for AFCI breakers — a real or nuisance arc fault. We split the circuit and find the cause instead of just resetting it.
Burning Smell & Sparking Outlets — Stop & Call
If you smell burning plastic from an outlet, see scorch marks, or hear buzzing — kill that breaker and call us. These are signs of a loose connection generating heat, and they're how electrical fires start. This is a same-day call for us.
Two-Prong to Three-Prong
Older DMV homes (especially DC rowhouses and older Bethesda/Silver Spring neighborhoods) often still have ungrounded two-prong outlets. We can either run a proper ground or — in many cases — install GFCI protection that lets you legally replace two-prong outlets with three-prong, with a label noting they're protected but ungrounded.
